The story of a general and his cavalry.
The general is leading the cavalry, he's very knowledgeable and wise. He also has strong lieutenants who are ready to chop any trees or enemy's heads. The problem is the general does not know which trees should be chopped to get us woods to fight the cold. Even worse, sometime he wants to cut the grass to find rabbits without knowing if there are any. At other times he want us to go fish because there is a river. River may bring monsters, we're not sure but we believe there would be big fishes. So blindly that we even thought there would be mermaids for all the guys. Guys love mermaids. At the morning when one lieutenant decides to set food on the water to catch fishes and if lucky mermaids for all of us. At that right moment the general tells him there are birds in the sky as he just survey the land and found their nests, big birds that will give us meat for months ahead. They can even bring us out of this foul dark forest, they are very big birds! Then there would be gold under the ground that will make us rich for many lifetimes if we can get back home. There would be beasts that we can tame to strengthen our force. There would be magical skills that if all of those elite lieutenants learn they would be invincible. The list goes on, and since it's a dark forest it never stops giving. The cavalry ended up dying one by one having no foods, no shelters, no fire until there is no one left. The cavalry is scattered, whoever stays dies undeciding which to do. Rich? Invincibility? They got nothing, not even food. Those who go on their own way are marked deserters, traitors. Some of those make it out of the wood just barely keeping their life. Some dies on the way out. Some decided to dig the some gold and bride the trolls to get out but still having some left enough to make a wealthy life.
