The Red Breast cichlid eggs have hatched

Today the Red Breast cichlid eggs hatched 🐣. So the exact spawning date works out to June 5. After the female lays them, the male fertilizes the eggs immediately, and they hatch 3–4 days later.
Because there are many other fish in the tank besides the parents, I had to move the fry out and raise them separately — to the other fish they’re just a high-nutrition snack. And even fish of the same species will compete over breeding rights, or simply wreck another couple’s household. I left a few fry behind with the parents so they don’t get stressed from losing everything. When stressed, parents start fighting each other, their bond breaks, and down the line they may never “do the deed” together again.
