Representational state transfer

I got to know the term RESTful in 2008 when I had to maintain one "RESTful" API built in 2005 by one of my now tech master. It stands for Representational state transfer". Transfer? right! Data transfer. But what does Representational state even mean?!?

I've read the REST wikipedia and the IETF pages (https://lnkd.in/d5JnSHvF) thousands of times (whenever I got confused building REST and it happened A LOT) and still couldn't explain until this article. Until this single article.

This is certainly where the web will move forwards. HTMX is small but the leading force. Remix and Fresh with island based client hydration are steps to getting to True RESTful.
