A species I'm posting online for the first time: Chuco microphthalmus. This is another monotypic species (độc chi) I own (I have four). The fish doesn't have a common name yet; people just call it Chuco for short (though that's easy to mix up with the names of African cichlid genera).
Scientists place it in a monotypic genus (it is the only species in its genus), which means its form, color, and DNA 🧬 are entirely distinct. And in my experience they really are one of a kind!
I collected six of them, but only three are left. I think I have both sexes (different sizes). I'm hoping that in the not-too-distant future I can establish the next generation.
