Big goals and unbreakable will

My friends know I went to the UK to watch Manchester United play.

But nobody knows that March 23rd, 2018, a Friday, was also the day my probation was terminated at a startup called Meta.us (defunded), founded by Alan Chou, Blizzard's Director of Publishing and Operations for SEA. https://www.linkedin.com/in/alantchou. The most glorious job I'd ever dreamed of, the brightest halo I'd ever touched. Probation cut short because, honestly, I wasn't good enough.

House in mourning, home gone. Job gone.

Two days later, the UK itinerary I'd dreamed of for ages, forged over many months, was set to begin — stacked with big, compound goals:
Go to Europe
Go to the UK
Stay in London
See my Vietnamese friends there
Watch MU play at Old Trafford
On my birthday
On the Stretford End
With my girlfriend
And propose
After we win
Go to Scotland
Ride the Harry Potter train (failed)
See Harry Potter and The Cursed Child on stage (failed)
See Aladdin on stage in London

If the goals hadn't been big enough, with home gone and job gone, I'd probably have canceled everything. Including my own life.

Unbreakable will — I shed a new skin every day after that disaster in 2018.

Today I looked back on one of the biggest failures of my life and drew fresh resolve from it, set fresh goals.
